Testing Phantom hardlube-coated HP2 machine taps

Process reliability is crucial, particularly when critical thread cutting is the final operation.
As we are keen to deliver consistently high quality and strive to compare favourably with our competitors' products, we put a number of premium brands to the test in our Test and Training Centre.

Tests performed
Tapping was carried out using the Synchro holder.
The material chosen for the first test was the widely used 42CrMo4 (refined) steel, and for the second test, it was stainless steel 316Ti.
Machining is easy for both materials as long as the right tools are used.

Test results:
Phantom HP2 UNI HSS-E PM machine taps were rated best in the test!

Phantom HP2 UNI HSS-E PM, best in class

The runner-up in this category achieved 242 holes, but with a score of 440 holes, the Phantom HP2 UNI HSS-E PM machine tap was the real winner. Having one universal tap that can be used with the full range of low to high-alloy steel makes the Phantom HP2 UNI HSS-E PM machine tap “best in class”.
