Process reliability is crucial, especially during critical screw thread cutting as the final operation.
Because we want to supply consistently high quality and compare favourably with our competitors’ products, we tested a number of top brands at our Test and Training Centre.
Tests performed
Tapping was carried out using the Synchro holder. The material chosen for the first test was the widely used 42CrMo4 (refined) steel. For the second test, stainless steel 316Ti was used. Machining is easy for both materials as long as the right tools are deployed.
Phantom HSS-E UNI, a reliable machine tap
First, the High Feed solid carbide 3-lip drill was used to drill flawless holes in 42CrMo4 (refined) steel using a feed of 0.3 mm/revolution. Even with as high a score as 730 holes, the Phantom HSS-E UNI machine tap remains well ahead of the competition (maximum 320 holes). It is remarkable in itself that this UNI tap can effortlessly machine both short-chipping materials such as cast iron and long-chipping materials such as aluminium. Not only that: it also cuts excellent threading in nickel and titanium alloys.
This Phantom HSS-E UNI machine tap provides a perfect tap for all types of steel with a tensile strength of up to 1,000 N/mm2 and stainless-steel types of up to 850 N/mm2, such as stainless steel 303 and 304.
